Paintings and Inks on Paper

MY ARTIST’S JOURNEY

IMG_3066.JPG

I started creating art in my 30’ after leaving a successful career in hospitality & marketing. I decided to pursue a calling to be an artist (despite having no background, education or experience in the field) as well as setting up my own art hotel experience.

In 2018, I travelled on my own to Japan, a country that always attracted an artist within me. I chosen to live in Kyoto to research Japanese culture & arts. I took lessons in calligraphy, ikebana, tea ceremony and lived in multiple temples to have access to masterpieces on the walls. Soon afterwards, I produced my first painting and couldn’t stop ever since.

In 2019, I took studies on colour at the Slade School of Fine Art in London and visited Japan for the second time.

Since 2020, I had the great fortune of studying the spiritual painting practice known as “shodo” in Japanese Zen calligraphy under Japanese teacher, Rie Takeda. This way of painting became a cornerstone in my artworks, combined with five years of movement-based performance practices including dance and circus (trapeze, aerial hoop, and silks).

My works have been exhibited in London (Laura I Gallery, Affordable Art Fair, Bloomsbury Theatre) as well as intenrnationally including NG Residency and Gallery, France 2021 and Florence Contemporary Gallery, Italy 2022. My works are now held in private collections in the UK, US, Canada, France and Poland.
