Kamila CK
A Polish-born, UK-based interdisciplinary artist and multiple Arts Council England grant recipient working across painting, performance, moving image and immersive installations.
Her practice centres on the Enso circle, combining Zen painting with movement and embodied performance to explore circularity, synchronicity, interconnectedness and the human experience.
Kamila has lived and worked in the UK since 2007. She began her artistic practice in 2019 following transformative visits to Japan in 2018 and 2019 subsequently studying Zen calligraphy under Japanese artist Rie Takeda and developing the meditative Enso painting technique that has become central to her work. Complementing this, she also completed professional training in circus arts, integrating movement and aerial performance into her visual art practice.
Since then, she has developed an interdisciplinary practice through performances, paintings, moving image, installations and residencies in the UK and internationally.
Her recent work has been supported by Arts Council England through a Developing Your Creative Practice award (DYCP) in 2025 and a National Lottery Project Grant in 2026. Kamila has presented her work in art galleries, art fairs and theatres across the UK, including Riverside Studios, Cockpit Theatre, Firepit Gallery, Crypt Gallery and Lincoln Arts Centre, as well as internationally in France, Italy and the US.
Key residencies include Clarence Mews, London (2023–26), NG Art Residency, Provence, France (2021), and La Maison Les Météores, Bourgogne, France (2022). These experiences provided the space to develop new works, push creative boundaries, and collaborate with musicians, visual artists, and performers.
Her paintings and calligraphy are held in private collections across the UK, US, Canada, Mexico, France and Poland.
Kamila lives and works between London and Lincoln, continuing to develop her practice in the UK and internationally.

My interdisciplinary practice employs ideas from human psychology, abstract painting, Japanese Zen painting and dance (aerial dance, physical theatre) to connect viewers to a deeper level of imagination, creativity and spirituality.
My aim is to create art that leaves an imprint in the viewer’s consciousness and facilitates internal dialog and stimulation. There is always a thread of spirituality, visual metaphors and internal dialog igniting a deeper sense of existence.
My process is both intentional as well as synchronistic and intuitive - developed through movement and performance practice whilst also being influenced by Japanese Zen painting called “shodo” where the work is an expression of energy created in one continuous movement flow with no correction afterwards. This allows the artist to get out of logical mind and connect to something bigger than ourselves in order to allow the true creative spirit to take over. I enjoy working with chance and synchronicities because this is where the true creativity and originality comes out for me.
I became an artist relatively late in life (at the age of 32) with no prior art, dance or performance background when I started. This unconventional path has fueled my passion for expanding the possibilities of art, merging various mediums to generate innovative creative approaches. I am particularly fascinated by action painting, where the act of painting becomes a performance in itself. Additionally, I am intrigued by new technologies and how digital art can interact with and enrich other art forms like painting and performance.
